Hey guys! My name is Elizabeth Steagall, but a lot of people know me as Beth. I'm serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Portugal Lisbon Mission and I couldn't be more excited! In October of 2012, President Thomas S. Monson made an announcement that changed many lives, including my own. He announced that young women who are worthy, able, and have the desire to serve a mission may be recommended for mission service beginning at age 19 instead of age 21. I can remember exactly where I was in that moment: the gas station. I was driving home from a choir rehearsal and stopped to get gas. I checked my phone and I had a text from my sister that said: "They changed the girls missionary age to 19 instead of 21!! You're going on a mission!!" After the information sunk in, I started screaming in the middle of the gas station "I'm going on a mission!!!" From then on I have been preparing myself to go out and serve and I couldn't be more excited!!
